'Sediment of the Self' is a unique single piece sculpture, a layered, spiraling heart-like form in iridescent turquoise, emerges as a tactile meditation on form, identity, and organic complexity. Crafted in rhythmic, concentric strata that mimic geological sediment or topographic maps, the piece suggests that the self—like land—is shaped by time, pressure, and hidden forces. It does not represent a heart in the anatomical sense, but rather in the emotive, symbolic, and architectural registers.
This is not a heart that beats—it echoes.
Like his other sculpted hearts, this piece does not aim for anatomical accuracy but instead becomes a vessel of introspection: raw yet polished, fractured yet whole. It reflects Brognoli’s ongoing inquiry into identity as layered, fluid, and always in motion.
This Sculpture reflect a commitment to what the artist describes as a “meditative dialogue”—a spontaneous process guided by intuition rather than strict intent. In this way, the sculpture stands less as a finished product and more as a fossil of the artist’s own internal geography—a vessel that has recorded rather than resisted the forces of emotional and creative erosion.
It is a testament to an artist who does not sculpt objects, but rather opens portals—into the self, into memory, into myth.
The media used is carved plaster , once again underlining the concept of fragility in the Artist's work.
